Birthday Gifts

When it's a friend or relative's birthday I like to put together sets of little themed gifts (and sometimes manage). Here's two I made in the last week. The first for a friend ~ tea cosy and camomile tea, with a handmade card.

The second, for my neice who's turning four. It's becoming a little tradition that I buy her a book and a prop to go with the book. Last year I bought The Gingerbread Man and one of Kate Sutton's sewn gingerbread men. This year I found a wooden tiger in a charity shop. I thought I'd share some of the inside pages, as it's such a wonderful book. It makes me want to write and illustrate children's books.

  2. I loved that book and my kids did too...especially the bit about the tiger drinking all the water in the taps and all the beer.I bet you'd be great at illustrating children's books.

  3. I love giving themed gifts too and these are both fantastic. I know the recipients will be so happy. Sweet book for a 4 year old. Your postcards every day are so fun. Best wishes, Tammy

  4. The Tiger Who Came To Tea was absolutely one of my favorite books when I was little. My mom bought it when we were in England one summer...our copy is very well-loved. I'm sure your niece will love it!

  6. We love that book, it's a keeper for us even though our children are outgrowing picture books.

And you could definitely create your own children's books. Be sure to put that task on your "to do" list :)

    Have a wonderful weekend.

  9. Thanks everyone. Glad you all enjoyed a trip down memory lane ~ It's such a lovely book. There's something nostalgic about it, but it's still really enjoyable for children now.
