Remember when I recieved this letter? Well, I'm so pleased to finally be able to share my exciting news with you. I have accepted a place on a one year course to train as a primary early years teacher, working with 3 - 7 year olds. The course begins in September and will be full time which means I will be leaving my job.
It's this change which has helped me to look at my TODAY I SAW project and think about my next projects. On 4th June I will have been drawing & sending postcards for one whole year. When I started the project my friends would ask ' How long are you going to do it for?', I'd answer 'I'll see if I can do it for a month. If I can, I'd like to do it for a year. I'm not making any promises though. I don't want to feel disappointed'.
I've far from disappointed myself. I coudn't feel more proud of this project. Taking a little bit of time to remember something small has become a part of my day. Noticing things and thinking 'I have to remember to draw this!', it's all become a special part of my creative life. I have to say though, if I didn't know that people were looking at my drawings and appreciating their arrival in the post I probably would have stopped last August. Thank you for following along and for your kind comments.
When TODAY I SAW is one year old I'll be drawing this project to a close and I'll open a new space where I can share my drawings and thoughts - I actually love painting and using colour you know! I'm really excited to share my new project with all of you and I do hope you'll come along and join me. I think it's going to be a lot of fun!
Best Wishes, Jill x x x
Congratulations Jill! I'm so happy for you and your next adventure.
ReplyDeleteOf course I will be sad this project end - it has been so fun to see things through your eyes and pen - but I look forward to the next one you begin.

Congratulations! On the job, the completed year, everything! I am very excited to see this new project, but I must admit I'll be sad to see the postcards go :) And what a cute picture!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your acceptance for training. I know the children that you will (eventually) be working with will get as much enjoyment from you as we - people you do not know - have got from your drawings.
Good Luck with whatever you choose to do in the future!
Best Regards
John, Bamber Bridge

ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Congratulations... the course sounds wonderful, and i'm sure this is one of those decisions you will never regret. Very much looking forward to seeing your new project!
ReplyDeleteJill,
ReplyDeleteMy feeling, from sporadic visits to your delightful site, is that you'll make a wonderful primary teacher! I teach 5-7 year olds, and I always find art the most daunting of subjects - I'm accutely aware of my own limitations in that domain. The ones you teach will be *so* lucky! Good Luck, Jono.
teaching is a wonderful vocation .. congratulations for deciding to make a difference in children's lives .. there cannot be enough teachers who draw and paint and understand the beauty in all things .. your site has been an inspiration to seek out the beauty in the smallest parts of your every day .. and i thank you and wish you all the luck in the world .. thrive and prosper
ReplyDeleteWell done, Jill.
ReplyDeleteAnd...is that my favourite of your dresses you have on there? I believe it is.

ReplyDeletei'll be waiting for your next blog!!
A new adventure is always something to look forward to and after seeing the little book you made for children where you work, I am certain there will be a whole generation of little people who will be inspired and learn to look at life when you become their facilitator. All Best Wishes, Gabrielle
