California Dreamin'

First thing saturday morning me and my suitcase are getting on a plane all the way to California. I'll be away for 10 days and staying with my lovely married couple friends, Allee and Jesse. They live on a boat in Chula Vista and I can't wait. I'll be staying in San Diego and in LA and I wondered if you have any tips for things we should do or places we should go. Camping, watching ice hockey and going to see the orchestra are all things already on the agenda. The photo was taken last time I went to stay with them, when they lived in Santa Cruz. I'm so excited.

  1. My husband and I visited San Diego last May. We did a kayak tour of the caves in La Jolla. It was a blast, not the type of thing we usually do. The weather may not be right for that kind of thing now.

They are also famous for their zoo, and there are a couple of nice museums at Balboa Park also.

Have a safe trip and a very enjoyable stay!

  8. I vote for the zoo. It IS amazing!
Balboa park is pretty awesome too.
A few years ago I visited a friend that lived there and we found out that on occasional Tuesdays (?) some of the places are free. I don't know if they still do that but that's how we got into the museum! Free is always nice!

  16. Oooh . . . I'd say you can't miss Balboa Park, too.

At Los Angeles: just for old time's sake I'd drive Mulholland Drive all the way from Cahuenga Pass to Sepulveda (beyond there it used to become a dirt road). . . at night!

And in the daytime Mulholland Highway from Woodland Hills to Leo Carrillo state beach and return along Pacific Coast Highway through Zuma Beach, Malibu and Topanga beach . . . but then you're not me and you may not like driving.

    Bon voyage.
