Kites are fun - my new blog!

I'm happy and rather excited to introduce to all of you my new blog! Kites are fun! I don't want to say to much about my hopes and plans for it but I will say that I hope for there to be regular illustrated articles and a few extras thrown in now and then. I've written and illustrated the first 'article' about swimming in the heat, so please do take a look and let me know what you think. I'd really love for you to follow along. I think it's going to be a fun journey, so do come join me!
Love from Jill x x x

PS. Thank you so much to everyone who took part in the Today I Saw postcard swap. I was amazed by all the fun and interesting picture on flickr. I thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so, that I'm already thinking of what my next swap could be on Kites are fun......shhhh.

4th June 2010

I have now completed one whole year of drawing Today I Saw postcards. I sent the first one to my Grandad and I thought it right to send him the last (or at least last for a while). Tonight I bought pizza and a cake to celebrate my one year acheivement. I said to Daniel "I've bought a cake to celebrate" he said "Yeah, just think about the amount of times you said 'imagine if I do it for a whole year!".
I started this project to try and get myself to draw regularly and to keep in touch with people, and then it just sort of kept going and developing and I never thought I'd end up feeling so happy about it. I'm so proud, and I wouldn't be if I didn't know that people where looking at the drawings everyday and telling me to carry on. So, thank you all so very much for following, commenting, emailing and sending nice things in the post.

More information about the postcard swap this weekend and news about my next blog coming very soon. Stay tuned.

Today is the last day of the project. I'll be keeping a look out for something really good today and then I'll post it on here later tonight. I've got a funny butterfly in my tum about it being the last day. Will write a bit more this evening. Hope it's sunny where you are, it is here in London. x

From all over

I'm getting pretty excited about the postcard swap. I'm sad that Today I Saw will no longer be a daily project but at least the swap is bringing something fun to the end of the project. Thought I would share with you the list of places some of the participants are from.

America, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, England, France, Israel, Italy, Ecuador, Bulgaria, Russia, Scotland, Switzerland, Slovenia, The Netherlands and Saudi Arabia!

And don't forget, if you want to take part you've only got today and tomorrow to sign up! Hope it's sunny where you are in the world. It is here in London. x

I'm an Anorak

I mean in Anorak! As you may have noticed from the lack of posts over the last two weeks, things have been rather busy. I've been going through the addresses I've been sent for The Today I Saw Postcard Swap. So far over 90 people are participating! and some are a few of my favourite blogging artists! I also went to visit my family in Scotland for 4 days and returned last night to find this waiting for me! I sent two postcards to Anorak magazine ages ago and now they are in it. I don't recall ever having work published before this, so I am most excited and proud.

p.s. Does anybody know how to make the 'postcard swap post' stay at the top of my blog as a 'feature article'? or is that only possible on typepad?
