The Today I Saw Postcard Swap!

To celebrate the end of this project I'm going to organise a big Today I Saw Postcard Swap! I'll collect everyone's addresses and then pair everyone up with a partner to swap with. The idea is to draw your own 'Today I Saw' postcard and mail it to your swap partner.

If you would like to take part you must email me by Friday 4th June and please write 'postcard swap' in the subject.

I'll email everyone a partner's address by Monday 7th June.

You must have sent your partner a Today I Saw postcard by Friday 11th June

and please scan or take a photo of it and put it in the Today I Saw flickr group (or email a picture to me if you don't have a flickr account, and I'll put it on).

Simple, right? : ) and I want lots of people to take part so feel free to post about this on your blog or tell your friend, or your Grandma, or everyone!

How's your weekend?

I've just put some of the postcards from the last week up but I only got up to Wednesday when I noticed I've ran out of addresses. This is my last request for addresses to send postcards to, because, as you may know, I'll be bringing this project to a close on June 4th. If you wish to recieve a postcard before the project ends then email me your full name and address. Also, how's your weekend? Any good sightings? Start your comment with TODAY I SAW.....

Update: I now have enough addresses to take us to the end of the project. Thank you for your emails.

Exciting Changes

Remember when I recieved this letter? Well, I'm so pleased to finally be able to share my exciting news with you. I have accepted a place on a one year course to train as a primary early years teacher, working with 3 - 7 year olds. The course begins in September and will be full time which means I will be leaving my job.

It's this change which has helped me to look at my TODAY I SAW project and think about my next projects. On 4th June I will have been drawing & sending postcards for one whole year. When I started the project my friends would ask ' How long are you going to do it for?', I'd answer 'I'll see if I can do it for a month. If I can, I'd like to do it for a year. I'm not making any promises though. I don't want to feel disappointed'.

I've far from disappointed myself. I coudn't feel more proud of this project. Taking a little bit of time to remember something small has become a part of my day. Noticing things and thinking 'I have to remember to draw this!', it's all become a special part of my creative life. I have to say though, if I didn't know that people were looking at my drawings and appreciating their arrival in the post I probably would have stopped last August. Thank you for following along and for your kind comments.

When TODAY I SAW is one year old I'll be drawing this project to a close and I'll open a new space where I can share my drawings and thoughts - I actually love painting and using colour you know! I'm really excited to share my new project with all of you and I do hope you'll come along and join me. I think it's going to be a lot of fun!
Best Wishes, Jill x x x
